Coastline Community College was founded over thirty years ago in California's famous Orange County. The College offers classes that lead to associate degrees, certificate programs and online distance education. With no main campus, Coastline Community College offers instruction at learning centers in Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, and Westminster and also offers instruction in non-traditional spaces from banks to shopping malls. Coastline Community College also has several specialized learning programs. These programs focus on giving opportunities to specific groups in the community. They include: Kaleidoscope Created to give women of color a forum to discuss and enrich their achievements in education. Kaleidoscope gives a forum for professionals to share their vast experiences, discuss and analyze barriers faced by cultural groups and work on setting new goals. The Kaleidoscope program gives women the opportunity to seek guidance, find mentors, network with other professionals and build on their existing skill sets so they can move forward and find even more success. Military Programs Coastline Community College offers educational opportunities to people enlisted in the military and spouses of those in the military through an online portal that not only allows for basic distance education, but includes what is called a PocketEd program, which their offering in a Pocket PC format. The military programs offered by Coastline Community College includes programs for men and women in the army, coast guard, marine corps and the navy. In the case of the Navy, there are both a Navy college program distance learning partnership and a Navy college program for afloat education. Distance Learning Online enrollment isn't just available to military personal. Anybody can enroll in the Coastline Community College Distance Learning Department. Courses are available both on the Internet, and via CD-ROM and Cablecast videos that are aired on television. Only local students have the option for Cablecast courses, as they are aired on local cable channels. In these cases, the students go to the university for midterm and final exams. Accreditation Almost 10,000 students attend Coastline Community College either on campus or through distance education. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Coastline Community College has been an accredited learning institution for over thirty years and offers associate in arts degrees and certificates in twenty-five technical and career programs.
