Dodge City Community College is a relatively small school in rural Kansas. With around two thousand students attending each semester, the school's mandate involves letting students embrace their individual learning style, while receiving a quality education. Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and by the Kansas Department of Education, Dodge City Community College includes diverse and challenging opportunities, personal and community development, responsibility, accessibility and decision-making based on student needs at the forefront of their mission statement. Why Dodge City? Situated on Lake Charles, with over 145 acres to call home, the Dodge City Community College campus has everything a student could ask for. There are 20 school building on campus, and great off-campus destinations like the campus radio station and Cavalier field, where the school's sports teams take the field. But what makes Dodge City Community College really great are the small classes. One of the disadvantages at a very large college is how lost you can feel in stadium-like classrooms with dozens or even hundreds of other students in the class with you. Dodge City Community College averages eighteen students to each professor. Degrees Offered Dodge City Community College has a catalog of Associate degrees. They have Associate degrees in Arts, Science and General Studies, as well as an Associate of Science in Nursing degree and various Associate of Applied Science degrees. Technical Programs There are also several certificate programs at Dodge City Community College. There are programs ranging from Agriculture and Agriculture Food Chain Security to Cosmetology, Mass Communications, Floral Design and Sports Administration. Continuing Education For mature students who are looking for higher education to find retraining opportunities in a more flexible learning environment, Dodge City Community College also has a few continuing education programs. These include night school and summer school, along with an adult degree program and programs called AccessUs and EduKan. AccessUs is a program that six Kansas community colleges, including Dodge City Community College, started to offer Bachelor degrees on their campuses. EduKan is another cooperative effort between those colleges to offer online distance education. Student Activities Since all work and no play makes a school seem dull, Dodge City Community College has many student activities. There is an athletics department that has football, basketball, golf, soccer, track and more, along with a slew of student clubs and a radio station that airs on KDCC AM 1550 and KONQ FM 91.9.
