Okaloosa Walton Community College is now called Northwest Florida State College. In 2008 the name was changed to reflect an expanded district and new mandate.
One of Florida's first state colleges, the former-Okaloosa Walton Community College is a small campus that is a part of the Florida Community College system.
With less than 10,000 students, classes are intimate and students get the attention they need.
Mandate
Northwest Florida State College (formerly Okaloosa Walton Community College) has a goal to make education more accessible to anybody who seeks higher learning.
They want to create a welcoming college experience that provides students with certificate and degree programs that will lead to successful careers.

Dual Enrollment
The commitment Northwest Florida State College (formerly Okaloosa Walton Community College) has to making sure high school graduates can enroll is clear.
However NWF State College also has a program for high school students in Florida to enroll in their college level courses to earn credits toward their high school graduation as well as to earn college credit.
This dual enrollment is open to students from public and private schools, as well as home-schooled students. Almost 30,000 students participate in dual enrollment at colleges across the state of Florida every year.
Courses
There are many science and technical courses, as well, including computer engineering, computer technology, mathematics, drafting and graphic design. There are also social science, humanities and fine & performing arts classes.
For those students looking for a medical or health-driven career, there are dental assisting, nursing, EMS/Paramedic and athletics, health & fitness course loads.
Degrees and Certificates
Whether a student at Northwest Florida State College (formerly Okaloosa Walton Community College) is interested in professional or technical programs that offer certificates at the end and a quick path to the workforce - or if they want to work towards associate or bachelor's degrees - this college environment will work for them.

College Life
Northwest Florida State College is in Okaloosa County in northwestern Florida. The campus is in Niceville, a small town of less than 12,000 people not far from Eglin Air Force Base.
