Fresno City College
The very first community college in California is actually one of the schools in Fresno that currently offers both on-campus and distance education.
Established in 1910 Fresno City College opened its doors on the former Fresno High School campus. One hundred years later there are now 109 community college campuses in the state of California.
Fresno City College offers courses and programs to rival many schools in Frenso. There are several specialized divisions, like Applied Technology, Heath Sciences and Fine, Performing & Communication Arts, each of which offer dozens of specialized courses.
The Applied Technology division, for instance, has classes ranging from architecture and graphic design to apprenticeships in cooking and roofing.
Along with those divisions, there are also programs that offer honors studies, individual study and supervised tutoring.
California State University Fresno
Situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the San Joaquin Valley, California State University in Fresno -- often called "Fresno State" -- may be one of the most beautifully located schools in Fresno.
Among the various specialized colleges at the University -- which include the Kremen School of Education and Human Development, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and Lyles College of Engineering -- the standout is the Craig School of Business, which is one of the top 50 business schools in not just Fresno, but the entire United States, according to The Princeton Review.
Fresno Pacific University
If you are seeking faith-based schools in Frenso, there is at least one option. The only accredited Christian university in the central valley area of California is Fresno Pacific University.
With an academic focus that involves Christian and liberal arts and includes faith and the ideals of the Anabaptist-Mennonite and Believers Church.
Ministry and community involvement are as important to Fresno Pacific University as their academic curriculum, which includes schools of business, education, natural sciences and humanities, religion and social sciences.
